Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 July 2026
These terms govern your use of Tag n Ride's wallet, payment, and SafeRide safety features (the "Service"), available via our web app, mobile app, and this website. By creating an account, you agree to these terms.
This is a working draft written to reflect what the product actually does. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer — have it reviewed, particularly the payments and liability sections, before relying on it as a final legal document.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement in South Africa to use Tag n Ride. Drivers must hold valid documentation to operate as a taxi driver and complete our verification process before receiving payments.
Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your PIN and account credentials confidential.
- You must provide accurate information during signup and KYC verification.
- We may suspend or freeze an account showing suspicious activity, suspected fraud, or a breach of these terms, and will notify you where possible.
Wallet and payments
- Your wallet balance reflects funds you've topped up or received minus any spent or withdrawn amounts. It is not a bank deposit and is not covered by deposit insurance.
- Card top-ups and bank withdrawals are processed through our licensed payment partner, Stitch. Processing times for withdrawals depend on your bank.
- A platform fee may be deducted from ride payments before funds reach a driver's wallet; current fee rates are shown in the app before you confirm a payment.
- Payments confirmed with your PIN are final. Contact support promptly if you believe a payment was made in error or without authorization.
- Fleet owners and drivers using CashUp are responsible for agreeing their own earnings-split arrangement; Tag n Ride only facilitates the transfer.
SafeRide
- SafeRide provides GPS trip tracking and emergency SOS features to support passenger and driver safety. It is a safety aid, not a guarantee of safety or of emergency service response times.
- By adding emergency contacts, you confirm you have their consent to be contacted by us during an incident or SOS request.
- Triggering an SOS request may share your live location with our safety team and, where applicable, with emergency services.
- Misuse of the SOS or panic features (e.g. false reports) may result in account suspension and, where a paid emergency dispatch was requested, you may be liable for the associated service fee.
Driver verification and conduct
Drivers must complete identity verification before receiving payments. We reserve the right to reject, suspend, or remove a driver's verification at our discretion, including for safety complaints, fraud, or repeated payment disputes.
Prohibited use
- Using the Service for any unlawful purpose or to defraud another user.
- Attempting to circumvent PIN, KYC, or account-freeze security controls.
- Submitting false emergency reports through SafeRide.
- Reverse-engineering or interfering with the Service's normal operation.
Limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tag n Ride is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for the acts of independent drivers or fleet owners, or for delays caused by our payment or SMS partners that are outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under South African law.
Changes to the Service or these terms
We may update these terms or change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service as it evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of the page. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
